NBC – Operations Supervisor

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides day to day supervision and direction to subordinate skilled and semi-skilled unionized personnel involved in 7 day/24 hour, computer controlled, and continuous process operations involving wastewater treatment facilities, equipment, vehicles, buildings and grounds in conformance to all applicable NBC/state and Federal regulatory /permit guidelines.  Directs and trains subordinate staff in daily operations and preventative maintenance of NBC wastewater treatment, pumping and monitoring facilities. Sets priorities, renders operational advice, makes daily assignments, interprets policy, and resolves issues/ problems (e.g.: personnel, union grievances, coverage, operational safety, etc.)  Is management’s representative during off-shifts.  Ensures all work is performed in accordance with NBC policy guidelines, operational SOP’s, State & Federal Permit requirements, safety procedures and the union collective bargaining agreement.   Trains and retrains employees.  May work a rotating shift schedule, as required.  Performs other duties as assigned, within skill and experience capabilities.

Wastewater Superintendent

The New Shoreham Board of Sewer Commissioners, Block Island, RI seeks an experienced Wastewater Superintendent to provide overall management of a 450,000 gallon per day wastewater treatment facility, 5 lift stations, 3.5 miles of sewer collection lines, and all other equipment and property. All applicants must possess a RI Grade II license and submit satisfactory evidence of said license and must possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable record. The position requires excellent public relation skills, experience with process control software, preparation of O&M and Capital Budgets; and attend meetings with the New Shoreham Board of Sewer Commissioners.

Salary: $60,000 – $75,000 (commensurate with experience)

8:30am – 3:30pm Sign-in begins at 8:00am

This course provides WWTP, sample collection, and laboratory

personnel an opportunity to learn about sample collection and basic

laboratory analyses of conventional NPDES parameters.

Topics include proper sampling locations and techniques; basic lab

procedures for process control testing and quality assurance.

Conventional NPDES parameters such as BOD, pH, Total Residual

Chlorine, Bacteria analyses, oil and grease, and metals and nutrient

analyses will be discussed. Chain of custody documentation, sampling

containers, preservation and holding times will be addressed.

Certified Wastewater Assistant Project Manager, Woonsocket, RI

As Assistant Project Manager (APM), you will have the chance to work with project leadership and staff to assist in supervising daily Operation & Maintenance (O&M) activities as well as working with the Project Manager to learn O&M systems and tools to provide superior client support. Working with other members of our team you will organize and direct the operations, maintenance modification, and improvement of one or more wastewater treatment plants and appurtenant facilities. You will also have the opportunity to: analyze operational process control procedures, maintenance procedures, and institute changes when necessary to achieve full compliance with all regulatory agency water quality and solids disposal requirements as defined in the service contract with the client; be responsible for accurate operational records and prepare reports required by the client, all regulatory agencies, and facility manager; work closely with all employees at the project site and will establish cooperative relationships with subordinates, vendors, contractors, and all others contacted during work assignments; and assume responsibility of facility manager in the absence of the Project Manager. This is a position which you will be groomed for the next step of assuming a Project Management position in the Company. If you’re up for the challenge, we’ve been looking for someone like you.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Six (6) plus years of experience in the operation and maintenance of water or wastewater facilities, four (4) of which must have been at the supervisory level

• Rhode Island Wastewater Grade 4 or sufficient experience and education to obtain within 1 year

• Proficient with financial budgeting and reports, specifically experience preparing operational reports for both internal and external clients

• Proficient in team building, motivation, conflict resolution and problem solving

• Ability to operate SCADA systems and other computerized equipment

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

• Valid driver’s license with no major infractions
