DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Takes/records readings of plant equipment, including temperature, pressure, and vacuum. Operates a variety of pumps, valves, gates, and switches in order to operate the plant equipment. Responds to alarms/operational problems and takes corrective action . Cleans plant equipment and facilities and maintains a safe working environment. Frequently requires operation of a forklift, Bobcat, front end loader, sweeper, scum truck, and/or pick-up truck. Collects samples, performs standard tests, and records results. Receives hazardous materials and completes appropriate paperwork.

SUPERVISING SANITARY ENGINEER (DEM)

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is seeking a Professional Engineer to oversee the State’s Water Quality Certification Program and manage a staff of engineers and scientists responsible for issuing Water Quality Certifications and performing technical reviews for land development permits and other activities that may impact Waters of the State. The supervisor will also be responsible for important technical and policy decisions related to the Rhode Island Water Quality Regulations and the Rhode Island Stormwater Design and Installation Standards Manual.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Environmental or Civil Engineering, or related field and a current Professional Engineer license issued or recognized by the State of Rhode Island.  Additional educational experience substitutions are included in the full job description.  Knowledge of RI DEM and EPA water rules and regulations required.

Knowledge of civil and environmental site development practices and stormwater design and operation practices. Strong understanding of hydrologic analysis and design. Surface and subsurface hydrology and modeling preferred.  Strong understanding of IT systems preferred.  Proven experience and capability in working with state and local water/wastewater agencies a plus.

Electrician/Instrumentation Specialist

The Town of West Warwick has an opportunity for an experienced Electrician/Instrumentation Specialist at its 10.5 MGD Advanced Wastewater Facility. The Electrician/Instrumentation is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of electrical systems, equipment, instrumentation controls and must be familiar with SCADA.  Works under the general direction of the Wastewater Superintendent and Assistant Wastewater Superintendent, this position performs work according to standard trade practices and requires the application of considerable judgment in diagnosing difficult problems and determining appropriate corrective action.  The candidate must have working knowledge of testing equipment such as multi meters, amp meters, electrical insulation, test equipment and circuit locators.  Considerable knowledge of low to medium voltage and emergency generators as well as experience in the installation and repair of rigid conduit and explosion proof rated devices is necessary.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with three years of industrial electrical experience.  The candidate must have a valid Rhode Island Journeyman Electrician license issued by Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training; however a valid Rhode Island Master Electrician license is preferred.  A valid state driver’s license or ability to obtain prior to employment is required. This position is considered essential, and must be available for all shifts, call backs, and during emergencies events.

Miscellaneous Information

WASTEWATER SUPERINTENDENT

The Town of West Warwick, Rhode Island seeks an experienced Superintendent of Wastewater to provide overall management of a 10.5 million gallon per day wastewater treatment facility, 9 lift stations, 110 miles of sewer collection lines, and all other equipment and property.  All applicants must possess a RI Grade IV license and submit satisfactory evidence of said license and must possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.  The position requires excellent public relation skills, experience with process control software, prepares O & M and Capital Budgets; attend meetings with Sewer Commission and Sewer Appeals Board.

Salary range of $78,000 – $85,000 DOQ.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Process Monitor is responsible for monitoring the data from the plant’s computers and electronics and adjusting operations to maintain compliance with standards and regulations.  Serve as a lead to lower level staff regarding the operation of the plant and troubleshooting problems.  Monitor and operate a variety of computers and electronics in the monitoring of plant operations.  Monitor plant readings and adjust plant levels based on operational procedures and guidelines in order to maintain proper plant operations.  Maintain a variety of logs, reports, and documentation regarding plant operations and readings.  Oversee and/or respond to alarms or operational problems within plant property and at remote locations and takes corrective action based on defined procedures or supervisor direction.  Assist with completing applicable regulatory reports and working with related agencies.  Skill in operating a computer and applicable software applications.  Perform all duties of an Operator I or II as assigned.  Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Performs general electrical preventative maintenance within plant property and at remote facilities and locations.  Inspects the plant’s lighting, fire alarm systems, generators, and other electrical equipment, identifies problems, and performs required repairs.  Completes appropriate paperwork regarding daily activities.  Installs and repairs electrical and instrumentation systems or provides related assistance. Requirements: High School Diploma or G.E.D.; one year of general maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Must possess valid driver’s license in good standing. Grade I Wastewater Operator License is required within one year of employment.
