The Town has an opportunity for a Wastewater professional to join the team at the Wastewater Treatment Facility. The Wastewater Operator I is responsible for performing routine maintenance in the operation and control of the Town’s wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, and wastewater collection system. Examples of work performed are: operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge and effluent; monitors gauges, meters and control panels; observes variation in operating conditions; interprets meter and gauge readings; tests results to determine processing requirements; performs daily laboratory testing for process control, quality control assurance and permit; and operates and maintains plant machinery equipment and vehicles.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and 1-2 years of responsible work history. The position requires holding a Grade I State of RI Wastewater Operator’s License. Those without a Grade I license will be required to obtain one issued by the RI Board of Certification of Operators of Wastewater Treatment Facilities within twelve (12) months of hire. Candidates with a Grade I license upon hire are preferred. In addition, the WW Operator must have a valid RI Driver’s license with a CDL Class B endorsement, or the ability to obtain one, within three (3) months of hire. This position is considered essential, and must be available for all shifts, call backs, and during emergency events.

This is a Council 94 1st shift position of 10 days on 4 days off, 40 hours per week. The starting salary is $42,419 or $20.39 per hour, and after successful completion of a probationary period will receive a step increase, and includes a full benefit package.
